Invisalign
Alastair has considerable experience using aligner systems such as Invisalign.
Importantly, he is a specialist in orthodontics, meaning that as well as having trained as a dentist, he has spent a further 3 years in full time training to become an orthodontist. By comparison it takes just 1 day to become a certified Invisalign practitioner.
With his specialist orthodontic knowledge and experience, he can objectively advise you of all treatment options and how you can achieve the best possible result.
A clear choice to a stunning smile.
Invisalign is an innovative system, whereby teeth are straightened without braces. This system keeps treatment discrete and allows you to have the smile you have always wanted.
Invisalign works using a series of clear, plastic aligners that gradually 'mould' your teeth into the desired position. Following detailed examination of your smile and bite, accurate impressions of your teeth are taken. 3D computer technology is then used to simulate tooth movement and construct your aligners.
The aligners are similar to thin 'gum shields' and fit comfortably and intimately over the teeth. The aligners are changed every 2 weeks and progressively the teeth move. The aligners are removed for eating, drinking and brushing; however it is important that they are worn for at least 22 hours per day.
Invisalign is particularly suitable for adults and most teenagers; however the there are some instances when other orthodontic appliances would be more appropriate.
Advantages of Invisalign:
• Discrete, nearly invisible treatment
• Comfortable with minimal irritation to gums and cheeks
• Aligners can be removed meaning that normal brushing, flossing and diet can be maintained
