  I have been thinking about sorting out my teeth for the past eight years. Twice I even when to Harley street and got measured up etc… but too much time lapsed until the next appointment so lost my motivation.

When I first spoke to Alastair my instructions were that if I came to see him I wanted action there and then, half thinking he will be like the rest and I will not have to actually commit… How wrong I was!!

On my first appointment I came away with a full-on brace aged 38! My fiance was not to pleased as I hadn’t told her, as I assumed it would happen, like the other times.

I was told by Alastair and his trusted assistant Kelly that I would have my brace on for 12 months; however 7 months later I had them off, and must say that my teeth look great and I feel fantastic. I even referred my fiancé to Alastair and his team! Thank you!   

  I always wanted to sort my teeth out and looked in envy at nice straight teeth, but as the years went by, I resigned myself to the fact that I never would. My new dentist asked the question why I had never worn a brace to straighten my teeth. I had always wanted to, but assumed I would have to have teeth removed (something I was terrified of!) and I was too old (45 years) to be considering such a thing.

I agreed to a consultation with the orthodontist, Alastair, where he told me I could have my teeth straightened without extractions. When I heard this, I glibly said 'yes' I would go ahead; without really considering what was involved.

Now my treatment is finished (fourteen months later), I am eternally grateful to my dentist for prompting me to do it, and Alastair’s skill as an orthodontist in achieving it. The difference I feel in myself in not being conscious of my crooked teeth when speaking to others means so much to me.

It would be wrong to say that there was no discomfort in the process, and eating was certainly not as enjoyable. A bi-product was weight loss and a change in eating habits, which I am determined to stick to, even though the brace has gone!

When the brace was fitted, the end-date seemed such a long way away. The first few months were the worst getting used to the brace, but after that, the time went quickly and I got used to the regime. I was very disciplined in doing exactly what Alastair asked to ensure that treatment worked. My dedication paid off and the brace was removed a couple of months early!

I cannot thank enough all those involved in creating my new smile. The results have been so worth it! This experience has made me realize that you are never too old to achieve the things that you really want to do, and that others respect you for having the courage to go for what you want.   

  Since having my fixed brace, it has made a huge difference to the way I feel about my smile. I had braces when I was at school but since then my teeth moved and I was conscious about my smile.

After Alastair treated me, I feel that my smile is now perfect and I am always showing my teeth! It only took 6 months and my smile has changed dramatically for the better. Thank you!
